Actress Sonam Kapoor is livid over gossip around an alleged 'cat fight' on the sets of her film ‘Veere Di Wedding’, which features an ensemble of actresses including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania.
Sonam's reaction came following a 'blind item' posted by an entertainment portal.
In a Twitter post, Sonam wrote: "Dear websites, you can put out as many 'blind items' (aka gossip you were too lazy to fact-check) as you like pitting women against each other. It may get you clicks but it won't be the truth. Must you insist on shoving this tired patriarchal concept of women cat fighting into our film (which is not about a road trip) as if grown, intelligent women have nothing better to do.
"We will continue to be actual friends and try and make a kick-ass movie and prove that women can work with each other, get along and have a blast. Because we can, we are and we will continue to. And on schedule. Please keep in mind how outdated, irresponsible, and harmful your narrative is and frustrating for a culture of women who actually want to work together.
"There is no place for it anymore. Sincerely, The cast and crew of 'Veere Di Wedding'."
Produced by Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor, the film's first schedule was wrapped in Delhi. It is directed by Shashanka Ghosh.
Sonam and Rhea's father and veteran actor Anil Kapoor also shot down the gossip item.
“There are 3,000 one-sided mails which either I have sent to myself or the woman in question has sent to me. The Cyber Crime department can prove or disprove either story, in just a few days. Towards that purpose, I have surrendered all my devices including laptops/phones which are still lying with the Cyber Cell, but Kangana has refused to do so.” Hrithik Roshan.
Actor Hrithik Roshan has broken his silence on the dragging row with actress Kangana Ranaut, saying he has never met her privately and asked how two “high-profile celebrities” could have had a seven-year passionate affair without any evidence.
Hrithik, son of veteran actor-filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, said: “Just like a nagging health issue sometimes ignored can turn malignant, this situation for me has unfortunately turned malignant.
“The truth is, I have never met the lady in question one-on-one in my entire life.
“Yes, we have worked together, but there has been no meeting in private. That’s the truth,” he said. He added he was “not fighting against an allegation of an affair”.
“I’m in fact protecting myself from something far more serious, sensitive and destructive than that,” Hrithik said in a statement.
The row began last year when Kangana hinted at Hrithik being her “ex-boyfriend”.
She said in an interview that she fails to understand “why exes do silly things to get your attention”.
The actress lodged a legal complaint against Hrithik for “misusing” the confidential emails and photographs of the time when they were together.
Hrithik later filed a complaint with the cybercrime cell, claiming an imposter had been emailing Kangana from a bogus email ID, pretending to be him.
The mud-slinging has continued till date, with Kangana and her sister constantly accusing Hrithik.
The “Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai” star questioned: “An alleged seven-year long, passionate affair between two high profile celebrities with no trail left behind.
“No evidence, no paparazzi pictures, no witnesses, not even a memento in possession like a selfie taken at the alleged engagement which is claimed to have happened in Paris in January 2014. Nothing that constitutes an exchange or any sort of proof of a romantic relationship.
“Yet we want to believe the other party because the rhetoric is — why would a girl lie.”
Hrithik also refuted talk of an alleged engagement with Kangana in Paris.
“My passport details show no travel outside the country in January 2014, which is the date that this alleged engagement supposedly took place. In Paris.
“The only so-called proof presented of this alleged ‘relationship’ was a photoshopped picture in the media. This was immediately exposed, the very next day by friends including my ex-wife.”
Hrithik was married to Sussanne Khan, with whom he has two sons. They separated in 2014.
The actor says the investigation regarding the emails is on.
“There are 3,000 one-sided mails which either I have sent to myself or the woman in question has sent to me. The Cyber Crime department can prove or disprove either story, in just a few days. Towards that purpose, I have surrendered all my devices including laptops/phones which are still lying with the Cyber Cell, but the other party has refused to do so.
“This is not, and I repeat, not a lovers spat. I humbly request people to stop labelling it as one and, for a second, try and see it for what it really is.
“I have been harassed by this for four years and the well meaning and probably necessary social bias toward women has deemed me helpless in defending myself.
“I’m not here to accuse or judge anyone, but it’s time I defend the truth because when truth suffers the collective consciousness of society suffers. Civilization suffers. Closer to home, families suffer. Children suffer.”
Bollywood's dancing diva Madhuri Dixit Nene was surprised when she got to know about the development of a series based on her. She says getting Indian actress Priyanka Chopra on board as an executive producer is a right step.
"I was pleasantly surprised when Sri Rao said he wanted to do a series inspired by my life in America," Madhuri said in a statement.
The story would follow how Madhuri settles down with her bi-cultural family and tries to bring her colourful lifestyle to an otherwise dull town.
In reality, Madhuri had taken a break from showbiz when she married Sriram Nene (Ram), who was based in US back then and shifted to Denver from Mumbai to start a family. The mother-of-two sons returned to showbiz around five years ago, and continues to be one of the most charming beauties in the Hindi film industry.
Sri Rao, a New York-based writer for shows like 'General Hospital: Night Shift', will pen the pilot and executive produce the series, as will Madhuri's husband.
The 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai' actress added: "As Ram and I chatted with Sri, the story evolved and Mark Gordon Productions came on board, wanting to produce it. Bringing on Priyanka was perfect in that she had experience with the landscape."
Priyanka currently stars on American show 'Quantico', which is going into its third season. Earlier this year, she made her Hollywood debut with 'Baywatch', and she is now shooting for romantic comedy 'Isn't It Romantic' with Liam Hemsworth.
Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has dropped out of Forbes magazines World's Highest-Paid Actresses 2017 list, which is led by Hollywood actress Emma Stone.
Deepika, who was 10th in the 2016 list, has not been included this year despite having made her Hollywood debut with "xXx: Return of Xander Cage".
Stone collected $26 million due to her Oscar-winning performance in musical film ‘La La Land’ and has surpassed Jennifer Lawrence, who claimed the top spot in 2016 and 2015, reports forbes.com.
Stone spoke on gender parity earlier this year, sharing that her male co-stars have taken salary cuts so she could receive equal pay.
Actress Jennifer Aniston was runner-up with $25.5 million. While she continues to receive millions in royalties even a decade after ‘Friends’ ended, the actress, who appeared ‘The Yellow Bird’, also monetises different endorsements.
Lawrence dropped down two slots to number three with $24 million, almost half of her $46 million earnings in 2016.
Melissa McCarthy ($18 million), Mila Kunis ($15.5 million) and Emma Watson ($14 million) have come fourth, fifth and sixth on the list respectively.
Together, the world's 10 highest-paid actresses tallied a combined $172.5 million between June 1, 2016, and June 1, 2017, before fees and taxes. Earnings estimates are based on data from Nielsen, ComScore, Box Office Mojo and IMDB, as well as interviews with industry insiders.
After 'Baywatch', Indian actress Priyanka Chopra will be seen alongside Rebel Wilson, Liam Hemsworth, Adam Devine in 'Isn’t It Romantic?' as a yoga ambassador.
Principal photography has begun on New Line Cinema's romantic comedy under the direction of Todd Strauss-Schulson.
The film follows the life of a New York City architect Natalie, who works hard to get noticed at her job, but is more likely to be asked to deliver coffee and bagels than to design the city's next skyscraper. She has an encounter with a mugger that renders her unconscious, waking to discover that her life has suddenly become her worst nightmare.
Wilson stars as Natalie, alongside Liam Hemsworth as Blake, a handsome client; Adam Devine, as her earnest best friend, Josh; and Priyanka as yoga ambassador Isabella. Strauss-Schulson is helming the project from a screenplay by Erin Cardillo, Dana Fox and Katie Silberman, and Paula Pell. The movie's filming is taking place in and around New York City.
The film is set for release beginning Valentine's Day, February 14, 2019.
Pakistani actress Sajal Aly, who played a rape survivor in her Bollywood debut ‘Mom’, says she had never dreamed of acting in the Indian film industry.
Speaking about her role as 'Arya' in the Sridevi-starrer, Sajal said: "It was definitely a challenging role... I mean any character you play, you have to really commit to it and kind of naturally become like that, at least that's how I function.
"I think the most challenging part was performing with Sridevi ma'am. Like my very first scene in the movie is me sitting at a dining table across from her and misbehaving with her - it was terrifying!
"We had to shoot in Georgia and it was freezing cold... so yeah, that was pretty tough too," Sajal said.
Sajal said: "Bollywood was never my dream, in all honesty. I was happy working in Pakistan and that was not something I was working towards, but this story moved me.
"I always knew that if I worked in Bollywood, I have certain limitations and boundaries that I would not want to cross and this movie was about a sensitive topic, everything was handled so tastefully."
The actress is all praise for her co-star Sridevi, who plays her mother in the movie. "She's just the sweetest person. Even now, she keeps calling me and reminding me that I'm in her thoughts."
Sajal said she has three film contracts with Boney Kapoor, Sridevi's husband and a producer in Bollywood.
"But now I don't know what's in the near future. They handed me the complete package on a silver platter: a meaty character, an excellent cast, the best of the best and for that, I'm forever grateful...
"Everyone's sending me messages telling me they're proud of me, it's just the best feeling, knowing everyone appreciates your work, including critics from across the border."

The book features her life fom growing up as a modern day princess to her days at college to starting her career as a management associate and then to her life as a film celebrity.

Around 22.5 million South Asians suffer violence, trafficking and abuse, including sexual exploitation, domestic servitude, child labour, forced marriage, bride-buying and sex tourism.
Now, award-winning actress Nina Wadia is set to present a radio appeal, to increase awareness about human trafficking. She also aims to raise donations to help fight against it, as part of her role as an ambassador of the British Asian Trust.
The BBC Radio 4 broadcast will be aired twice, at 7.55am and again at 9.26pm on Sunday 5th February. The appeal will be repeated on Monday 9th February at 3.27pm.
Around 70% of trafficked victims are female and one in three are children.
Extreme poverty and lack of education means that 70% of victims are illiterate and 50% earn less than $1 per day. An astonishing 40,000 children are reported abducted each year, with 11,000 untraced. In addition, 53% of children have reported sexual abuse.
Nina Wadia said: “I feel so proud to deliver this anti-trafficking appeal for the British Asian Trust to help protect the welfare of children and young people in South Asia.”
The British Asian Trust was founded in 2007 by HRH The Prince of Wales, who wanted to do something about the widespread poverty and hardship that he saw in South Asia.
He turned to the entrepreneurial spirit of the British Asian diaspora, bringing together visionary philanthropists and supporting grassroots initiatives that enable people to help themselves.
“I am hugely passionate about this cause and share a vision with the Trust to eliminate trafficking and enable all young people to fully achieve their potential and help shape the future of South Asia,” Nina added.
Richard Hawkes, CEO, British Asian Trust said: “We’re thrilled to have our ambassador Nina Wadia supporting us with our anti-trafficking campaign.
“The Indian Government reported a 25% increase in trafficking in 2015, which is a disturbing statistic. At the British Asian Trust, our vision is to protect children and young people from trafficking and abuse, while also rehabilitating victims.
“By forging partnerships with frontline organisations, stakeholders and the Government, we hope to work collaboratively to increase impact and raise awareness.”
So far, the charity has supported 9,500 girls and 18,600 families to improve safety, which includes collaboration with police and education officials, community supervision and links to key influencers.

Sana said it had happened with Vishal Pandya’s films. “There are so many films which have steamy scenes. Nobody puts a question on them.”
The ‘Jai Ho‘ actress said when people in India are becoming more open, intimate scenes aren’t a taboo anymore.

Producer Ritesh Sidhwani has strongly refuted rumours that Pakistani actress Mahira Khan will be replaced in the film, after Indian nationalist party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) demanded a ban on films featuring Pakistani artists.
Ritesh Sidhwani confirm 'Raees' release is not postponed and that Mahira Khan is very much still in the film
He has also rubbished reports that the release of his forthcoming Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Raees' has been postponed, saying the film will hit the screens as announced.
"I do not understand where all these rumours are coming from,” said Ritesh.
“I would only say one thing - I have shot with Mahira for 45 days and finished the film, I hope that clarifies things.”
'Raees', scheduled to release on 26th January, features Pakistani actress Mahira Khan who is making her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh.
Directed by Rahul Dholakia, 'Raees' is set in 1980's Gujarat and tells the story of bootlegger Raees Khan (Shah Rukh), whose business is challenged and eventually thwarted by a police officer played by actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
There were reports that the makers were considering to push the release of the crime-drama, after MNS demanded a ban on Bollywood films starring Pakistani artistes, in wake of the Uri terror attack.
The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA), however, had a meeting with MNS and urged the political party not to hamper the release of the already shot films featuring Pakistani artistes.
DEBUT: Much-loved Pakistani actress Mahira Khan stars opposite Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Raees’
When asked about the reports, Sidhwani told reporters, "We are sticking to the release date we announced earlier for 'Raees'. I don't think something like a ban has happened.
"The association has itself written to the government that people who have already made their films, who have completed their shooting, we should respect that. Let those movies release and whatever the government decides in the future, they will take a call on that," he said.
The producer, however, chose not to comment on whether a ban on Pakistani artistes was justified, and said he was pained and saddened by the terrorist attacks.
"I don't want to comment on that (Pakistani actors ban). It is very sensitive. Right now everything is very heated, I don't think it is the right moment to talk about it," he said.
Ritesh added that he has been visiting Delhi frequently for work and he will be begin to start shooting for the sequel of 'Fukrey' from 19th November. "The film will be shot across Delhi and will be a special film as the story has a different spin to it. I love shooting in Delhi. I think it is beautiful and it is at least better planned than Mumbai. It is not chaotic, it is fun."

Malayalam actress Jyothi Krishna’s morphed pictures that were used on pornographic site have been doing the rounds for a while and the actress was alerted about these images by a close friend.
The actress did not shy away from taking it to Facebook to slam the makers of her pornographic morphed image.
It so happened that one of her friends came across a morphed picture of her, when she was alerted about it, and instead of losing her cool she simply wrote a message on Facebook.
This is what she wrote in her Facebook post.
Her message is in Malayalam, here’s the translation: “Some son/daughter born in a shady family cropped my photograph and pasted my head on a photograph of the body parts of his/her mother or sister. This morphed photograph has been shared among many people through whatsapp. Many persons who know me have sent me supportive messages. I don’t intend to give any further response to the man/woman who did this… because what (s)he intended has not materialised.. My thanks to all my friend who supported me and stood with me… a big thank you.”
She has been receiving support from her fans and well-wishers and according to her, those who brought her morphed picture into limelight could not succeed in materialising their plans.
Jyothi is one of the most common names in the Malayalam film industry. She made her debut in the film ‘Bombay’ in March 2011. She was last seen in Jeethu Joseph’s ‘Life of Josutty’.
Sunny Leone’s most awaited movie ‘One Night Stand’, directed by Jasmine D’Souza is all set to release soon and it’s created quite the hype.
Although the filmmakers haven’t revealed much about the plot but buzz is that the movie relates to those belonging to the glamour world.
Alongside the sizzling former adult-film star Sunny is another female lead – Nyra Banerjee, who’s oozing passion about her debut role. We interview the actress and ask her about sharing screen space with Sunny Leone, future projects and much more.
What’s your role in ‘One Night Stand’? What made you choose it?
I’m playing one of the two female leads in the film and my role is a woman of substance. The multi-dimensional conflicts surrounding the film per se has been rarely dealt with in Hindi cinema. The movie has a huge scope for me to showcase a spectrum of emotions.
Do you fear that you would be overshadowed by Sunny Leone?
I’m confident of having portrayed my emotions powerfully and convincingly. As my role is equally challenging and distinct from Sunny's, I don't harbour any fears. I’m sure I’ll be appreciated.
Do you believe ‘One Night Stand’is your ideal debut and what did your parents think?
Well, I think the role is definitely applaud fetching! About my parents – do you mean as a bold theme? Well, me as an actor and my mother as a writer, we artists need to wellspring our artistic talents and insights to embrace such themes.
What talents do you bring to the industry?
I love dancing and I’ve always wanted to be an all rounder, so I believe I’m a thinker, a singing star, a good dancer and want to be a renowned actor.
If given an opportunity, would you have a one night stand?
Opportunity? Well, I will have to think about that...
Deepika Padukone is the latest Bollywood star to go international and the actress says although she is proud to have bagged 'XXX: The Return of Xander Cage', she is nervous about venturing into a new territory.
The 30-year-old 'Bajirao Mastani' actress will share screen with Hollywood Vin Diesel and Samuel L Jackson in the DJ Caruso-directed action thriller, which is the third installment of the 'XXX' film franchise. "I am very excited. But I want to confess that I am very nervous. Most importantly I feel proud to be a part of a film where I get to flaunt my ethnicity," Deepika told us.
"The reason they are roping me is because of my background. I really hope that I do well in the movie and people go and watch it," said the actress, who was in the capital for the launch of the new collection from luxury Swiss watchmaking company Tissot.
Besides Deepika, another Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who recently made her American TV debut with "Quantico", has reportedly bagged a role in 'Baywatch' movie opposite Dwayne Johnson.
Back home Deepika has been making the right noises and had a tremendous year in 2015 with the success of her films 'Piku', 'Tamasha' and 'Bajirao Mastani'. The actress says it has been her constant effort to keep improving every year and she is happy to see her efforts pay off two years in a row.
"I work to compete with myself and keep setting the benchmark for myself, to keep bettering, says Deepika.
After a successful 2014, I hoped I can do better and then it happened in 2015. It is my constant desire to keep improving," she adds.
With back-to-back film shoots and other commitments, the actress says she hardly gets time off. But despite her busy schedule, Deepika makes sure she reads and also tries her hands at baking.
"I haven't got a weekend for the past three years. But when I do get it, I like to just catch up on sleep. I also love baking and reading. Currently, I am reading the biography on Elizabeth Taylor.”
Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor, who roped in Tabu to play a prominent role in 'Fitoor', says she is a director's dream.
Veteran actress Rekha was initially roped in to play the character of Begum in 'Fitoor', but she walked out of the project in May 2015 and the role went to Tabu.
"Tabu is one of the few actresses who can mould herself according to the character. She is a dream for a director," Kapoor told reporters in a group interview.
"She never looks into mirror or monitor and always trusts the crew on sets.
“I am thankful to Tabu who stepped in at the last moment and got into the skin of the character within three to four days," added the filmmaker. Kapoor, who has widely shot 'Fitoor' in Kashmir, says he was very clear that he wanted to shoot this film in that state.
"Many people told me not to shoot in Kashmir and gave me the option to shoot either in Himachal or abroad, but Kashmir has a different beauty altogether. Dal Lake in Kashmir is something I can't take it away from the film. I was adamant I will make my film in Kashmir," said Kapoor.
The movie is an adaptation of Charles Dickens classic novel "Great Expectations" and will have Katrina Kaif playing Firdaus while Aditya Kapoor will portray the character of Noor. The film also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Lara Dutta and Rahul Bhatt.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut (28) has slammed film award ceremonies saying that they’re all “fake” and actually a commercial venture for the organisers.
Indian media has mocked her comments and has said that she’s trashing award ceremonies because she’s bitter about not bagging any awards during her career.
Having said that, she’s not the first who’s publically slammed these film award dos.
Aamir Khan, back in 90s, also decided to boycott awards and award ceremonies. His stand regarding shunning awards is still intact and he’s never been seen at any.
Kangna said: “'I feel it’s hard to stand against the system. But most of the time, the right thing is not the easiest to do. And I choose the right thing.
“I feel that awards shows today are just a facade that the event organisers put up. They are not genuine awards functions. I understand that these are commercial functions that are meant to generate target rating points (TRPs) and make money.
“So why this façade of felicitating artistes when that isn’t the case?
“Genuine artistes, like the best technicians, writers and actors are pushed to the tenth row, and sit with their families, hoping to figure out what’s going on with these fancy people, who are in the news for their relationships and item numbers.
“The main category goes to people who can help generate TRPs. And they might or might not even be deserving candidates. I feel this is not done and we need to change this.
“Organisers should be honest in saying that this is not an awards function; it’s just a function. I won’t be part of something so dishonest. I completely condemn them for that reason.”
