Police in Newham Borough are reiterating appeals to trace a man they would like to speak to in connection with a kidnap, assault and robbery

Officers continue to seek Shahidul Islam, 22 (13/04/1994), in connection with the kidnap of a 19-year-old man from Tollgate Road, E6 on 11 March 2016.

On that day the victim was taken at around 18:15hrs to a secluded area near Royal Dock Road, Beckton and assaulted and threatened with a firearm before being driven 30 miles to his home in Kent.

There the gang forced their way inside the property; held the victim’s younger brother against his will, and stole two vehicles, along with the vehicle log books, and other items of value.

The victim was then driven back to Beckton and told to transfer £200 into one of the suspect’s bank account. He was also told that he had a week to hand over an additional £10,000.

Throughout his ordeal the victim was kicked and punched by the suspects and he sustained cuts and bruises.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for the public’s help in locating Shahidul Islam, but are warning he should not be approached and should instead call 999 immediately.

Anyone with any information on his whereabouts are urged to contact DC Raf Patel at Forest Gate Police Station on 0208 217 5889, or police via 101 or by tweeting @MetCC.
