Sol Mexican Grill brings the sunshine to Leeds Road
The latest restaurant to arrive on Leeds Road is the hip and happening Sol Mexican Grill.
Named after the Spanish word for the sizzling sun, its dishes also deliver a zingy burn, thanks to tongue-tickling peppers and spices, imported all the way from Mexico.
Sol offers simple, affordable Mexican favourites. Food is either gorgeously grilled; or slow cooked, braised and stewed over time to create complex flavours with an uncomplicated menu.
Inside, the restaurant is decorated in the flamboyant colours of the country –it’s all vibrant reds, burnt oranges and deep blues – with Mariachi guitars displayed on the walls and multicoloured sombreros to plonk on your head as you tuck into incredible tacos.
The restaurant is family owned by an entrepreneurial couple, Javed and Asma Malik from Sheffield.
Javed said: “We’re new to the market and business has been non-stop.
“There’s nothing quite like this in Bradford. We’re halal and authentically Mexican. It’s delicious street food which explodes with taste. The Gorditas are a massive hit with customers here.”
Javed explains that Gorditas are a great base for loads of big and exciting flavours using refried beans and can be topped with peppers, salsa, jalapenos, cheese, your own choice of filling and shallow fried to perfection.
Also popular are the steaks which are served with fiery Habanero sauce – or if customers prefer something with a little less pep, there’s creamy peppercorn or smoky stroganoff options.
Another taste sensation are the Brazilian Malagueta skewers, where boneless chicken thighs are marinated in a Malagueta sauce full of smoky paprika and garlic flavours which deliver a touch of heat. They’re served sizzling to your table as the happy Spanish music jingles merrily overhead.
Desserts are all authentically Mexican, such as the churros, which are doughnuts coated in lip-smacking cinnamon sugar, served with melted chocolate to dunk!
