“I’ve seen so many women walk through my salon carrying silent pain. I knew I had to do something to help.”
In a world that often rushes past the quiet struggles of women, one Bradford businesswoman is choosing to pause, listen, and give back.
Prity Farooq, owner of a successful aesthetic salon for over 20-years, has quietly transformed part of her business into a sanctuary of emotional support.
Every Wednesday, her salon opens its doors not for beauty treatments, but for free, one-on-one mental health support sessions for women – offering a safe space to talk, cry, heal, and begin again.
“I’ve seen so many women walk through my salon carrying silent pain,” Prity shares.
“Some are battling health conditions. Others are facing divorce, single parenting, domestic abuse, or pressure from forced marriages. Many feel isolated and unheard. I knew I had to do something.”
That “something” became a lifeline for dozens of women across Bradford.
Since 2013, Prity has been offering confidential support sessions, combining heartfelt conversation with wellness advice – and, when needed, a therapeutic massage to help release emotional stress. For many, it’s the first time anyone has truly listened.
“The tears come quickly,” she says.
“But by the end of the session, they feel lighter. Sometimes, just knowing someone cares makes all the difference.”
From 10am to 6pm every Wednesday, her salon becomes a warm and welcoming space – one where judgement is left at the door, and kindness is the only rule.
What makes Prity’s work even more extraordinary is that this isn’t part of a business promotion or campaign. It’s her way of giving back to the community.
“This is about healing, hope, and reminding women they are not alone,” she adds.
She says seen women reduce their reliance on medication, rediscover their confidence, and reconnect with joy – simply by being given time, care, and compassion.
Now, she’s inviting others to come forward. “If you’re struggling, or you know someone who is – reach out. You don’t have to suffer in silence. I’ll listen. I’ll help. We’ll find a way forward together.”
Appointments are strictly for women and are offered in a private, supportive environment. To book a free session, contact 01274 307040.
