Tributes have been pouring in for a Bradford father and his teenage son who died in car crash whilst on their two-week family holiday in Turkey.

Taxi driver Abdul Farid, 41, and 14-year-old son Rahees from the Duckworth Terrace area, were tragically killed in the Serik district of Antalya, this week.


It’s understood the crash on the Turkish Riviera involved the car they were travelling in and a minibus.

Bradford’s Janaza Announcement shared the Al-Fatiha news on its Facebook platform

They had been on a two-week trip and were due to return home on Wednesday 5th December sources said.

Tributes on Janaza Announcement Facebook page endlessly describe Mr Farid as a loving and caring man and Rahees as a ‘top lad’. Prayers for their family and friends keep pouring in.

Ace Budget Taxis on Thornton Road, for whom Mr Farid worked for, described Mr Farid as a “fantastic and humble, brilliant family man”, who had worked as a driver for the company for 20 years.

“Everyone is devastated,” a spokesman from the taxi firm said. “Even the community around the base – customers are devastated.

“It’s just a great loss to society in the whole. He was an absolutely fantastic person. It’s just a great loss for the community.

“We can only just imagine what everyone else is going through.”

Bingley Juniors AFC has paid tribute to Rahees, who played in one of their youth sides describing him as a “great sportsman”.

A spokesman said: “It’s with a heavy heart that the club unfortunately needs to announce the passing of Rahees and his father Abdul who tragically were involved in a car accident.

“Rahees was a member of our U14s and has been with the club for a number of years. A great sportsman and top boy who will be greatly missed.

“The club would like to pass on our condolences to the family.”

Salts Junior FC, another local club, also paid tribute, saying: “Such a sad loss of a young life especially alongside his father.

“Thoughts from all of the football family.”
