Welcome to Yorkshire has announced four dates in the Bradford district for its popular Tour de Yorkshire roadshows, which give local residents and businesses everything they need to know to make the most of this year’s race.

Bradford Council is working with Welcome to Yorkshire to run roadshows in Bradford city centre, Saltaire, Ilkley and Keighley to share information on how to get involved, build excitement and maximise the benefits of the global media coverage.

Details on road closures, the annual sportive and Welcome to Yorkshire’s various cycling legacy projects will be discussed, along with ways people can become an official Tour Maker or take part in the popular land art competition.

Marketing, website and social media tips will also be provided, as well as ways businesses can embrace the huge influx of visitors that come to watch the action in person.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Sport and Leisure, said: “These roadshows are an ideal opportunity for residents and businesses in the city centre and along the route to find out all about the event and how they can get involved and make the most of this opportunity.”

Welcome to Yorkshire Chief Executive Sir Gary Verity said: “The Tour de Yorkshire is now recognised as one of the best supported races in world and that’s down to the great people of this county taking it to their hearts.

“We run these roadshows to share information about how the race works and to encourage people to show off their community to a global TV audience of over 11 million people.

“I’d encourage everyone who lives or works on the route to come along, ask questions and get inspired on how we can all make the 2017 Tour de Yorkshire the biggest and best one yet.”

A roadshow in Bradford will take place at City Hall on Thursday 2nd February from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Ilkley King’s Hall will host a roadshow on Tuesday 28th February from 6pm to 8pm.

A roadshow will take place at Victoria Hall in Saltaire on Wednesday 1st March from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. There will also be a roadshow at Victoria Hall in Keighley on Monday 6th March from 2pm to 4pm.
The roadshows are open to everyone but people are asked to register their interest. Full details can be found at http://letour.yorkshire.com/2017/roadshows
