‘Dangal’ star Zaira Wasim to quit Bollywood

Zaira Wasim, the Indian award-winning actress who became famous overnight after her brilliant debut in Aamir Khan's Bollywood blockbuster 'Dangal', has said she has decided to say goodbye to her film career.

Zaira rose to fame in 2016, when she starred in ‘Dangal’, one of Bollywood's highest grossing films of all times.

The 18-year-old actress from Indian-administered Kashmir, detailed her struggles in the industry and the impact it has had on her relationship with religion.

In a lengthy Facebook post, which was then later posted on other social media, the star cited the reasons for her decision to quit her promising career in Bollywood.

"Five years ago I made a decision that changed my life forever. As I stepped my foot in Bollywood, it opened doors of massive popularity for me. I started to become the prime candidate of public attention, I was projected as the gospel of the idea of success and was often identified as a role model for the youth.

"However, that's never something that I set out to do or become, especially with regards to my ideas of success and failure, which I had just started to explore and understand," she said.

The 18-year-old actress said as she completed five years in the profession, she wanted to "confess that I am not truly happy with this identity i.e my line of work".

Zaira Wasim rose to fame after her brilliant debut in Aamir Khan's Bollywood blockbuster 'Dangal' (2016)

Talking about her life as a film celebrity, she said she continued to observe things and twist her perceptions as she wanted them to be, without really understanding that the key was to see them as they were.

She added: “As I had just started to explore and make sense of the things to which I dedicated my time, efforts and emotions and tried to grab hold of a new lifestyle, it was only for me to realise that though I may fit here perfectly, I do not belong here," she wrote.

"This field indeed brought a lot of love, support, and applause my way, but what it also did was to lead me to a path of ignorance, as I silently and unconsciously transitioned out of imaan (faith). While I continued to work in an environment that consistently interfered with my imaan (faith), my relationship with my religion was threatened."

She added that the career often put her in a "vulnerable" position: "It was always so easy to succumb to the environment that damaged my peace, imaan [faith] and my relationship with Allah."

The actress said the journey has been "exhausting, to battle my soul for so long" and life was too short yet too long to be at war with oneself.

Her decision sparked a range of reactions on Twitter, with many questioning her reason to "invoke religion" as a factor.

But there were others who came to her defence, including Omar Abdullah, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

Ms Wasim's next movie, The Sky is Pink, could now be her last. The film also stars Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and is slated for release later this year.

EXCITED: Raj Kundra and Bollywood wife Shilpa team up with Amir Khan

Amir Khan is now teaming up with the gorgeous Shilpa Shetty Kundra - Bollywood Actress and winner of Channel 4’s Celebrity Big Brother.

Determined to make an impact on the plight of orphans within South East Asia - the Amir Khan Foundation and the Shilpa Shetty Foundation have joined forces to host an event brining South Asian celebrities on one platform in the UK.

This is all to raise awareness of the fact that South East Asia has one of the highest orphan populations in the world – 40 Million!

“I strive to dedicate time and resources to charitable causes and launched the Amir Khan Foundation to allow me to take a hands on approach supporting young people in the UK and to manage international projects, such as establishing an orphanage within Gambia and clean water wells in Pakistan,” says Khan.

“As a father, providing the best I can for my little angel is number one to me.”

“To know there are millions of precious children in the world living with no hope, in unimaginable conditions is heart-breaking.

“To know that South East Asia, my parents’ homeland, has one of the largest Orphan populations in the world is unacceptable!” he adds.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra, has spent many years supporting various philanthropic causes before finally going on to establish the Shilpa Shetty Foundation, to personally ensure orphan children are protected and provided with the resources necessitated to give them hope for the future.

“The issue is vast and turning a blind eye or shifting responsibility is not a solution for these vulnerable children. They are an easy target for sexual exploitation and human trafficking,” says Shilpa.

“Most people don’t really understand the extent of the problem. There is no shocking news story behind their existence, no political or natural disaster.”

Aamir Khan: “I’m ‘tadka in the dal’”

Superstar Aamir Khan has just unveiled the trailer of Advait Chandan’s directorial debut film ‘Secret Superstar’ and he’ describes his role as “tadka in the dal”.

“I have an interesting character in this film and it has been written and directed by Advait. It was Advait’s idea to come up with this look and I have never done a role like this before,” Aamir said at an event here.

“The story is about a girl, but I am a very integral part of this film. I am like the ‘tadka in the dal’,” he added.

‘Secret Superstar’ traces the journey of Insia, an aspiring singer - a 14-year-old Muslim girl from Vadodara, Gujarat. She takes to a burqa to hide her identity from her family while recording online videos of her singing.

Chandan, who has served as an assistant director on films like ‘Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd’ and Kiran Rao’s directorial debut ‘Dhobi Ghat’, says that he considers Aamir more than a godfather.

“He is a school for me. I wanted to go to a film school, but I got rejected from FTII. Ten years ago, I got a job as an intern in Aamir’s ‘Taare Zameen Par’, so since a decade, I think I am going to a film school.

“A few people get a godfather in this industry, but he is my film school,” he added.

But he said Aamir took up a role in ‘Secret Superstar’ based on his taste for the script.

“He says yes to a film only if he likes the screenplay. The only way to convince him is to give a great narration and a great script,” Chandan said.

Adding to this, Aamir said: “I was very convinced with the script, but whether I want to play this role or not, I wasn’t sure.

“I wanted to produce this film. When Advait asked me to play this character, I was not sure because it was completely different from who I am. So I gave a screen test and then we felt I can do this role.”

Aamir Khan paranoid about death

Halloween Small Ghost

Aamir Khan is indeed a perfectionist, and is well-known for outputting just one film per year, his daily emergence in the role of his character even whilst not on set is a testament to how committed he can be.

Now, it’s been revealed that he frets about dying before the shooting of his films culminates.

Speaking about his fear of dying before shooting the film, Aamir got candid at his ‘Dangal’ poster launch: “I am always scared as to how the movie will turn out. I stress over small things, like something in the schedule going for a toss.

“But I always have this worry - 'What if I die? What if I get injured really badly when the whole film is dependent on me?' so typically, towards the end of a shoot, I write a note to people around me that if I die, these are the things I want ideally to happen,' whether it's creative or connected to the release."

During the filming of ‘Dangal’ Aamir disclosed that he went ahead and told the director Nitesh Tiwari to cast someone like Varun Dhawan, Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor or Ranveer Singh if something were to happen to him during the shooting of the film.

He said: “For this film, I have already shot the older version of the character and I was thinking that 90 percent of the film is shot with my bulked up figure. The younger version can be shot with any young actor, so I cam up with possible replacements if I were to drop dead, so that the movie could be completed in case I’m no longer around.”

Now that’s what you’d call the ultimate “planning ahead” strategy!

The 1994 cult comedy ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ which starred Salman Khan and Aamir Khan may have a sequel in the pipeline

Days after news of 'Andaz Apna Apna' producer Vinay Sinha planning a sequel to the 1994 comic caper, Aamir Khan has said he hopes to reunite his 'Amar' with Salman Khan's 'Prem'.

"I would love to do 'Andaz Apna Apna 2' with Salman," Aamir said on the location shoot of his upcoming wrestling biopic in Ludhiana

"I hope to work with him again but only if the right script and film comes up. I'm sure both of us would love to do it."

The 51-year-old actor also waxed eloquent about his former co-star. Referring to Sallu's upcoming Eid release, in which he plays a wrestler too, Aamir commented: "Kapdon mein toh vo achcha lagta hi hai, aur kapdon ke bina toh aur bhi. Langot mein toh sabse achcha lagta hai (he looks good in clothes, and also without, but he looks the best in a loin cloth).

salman_khan_main (300x450)"He's a very charming, gifted man. I'm a big fan of his acting."

When one of the reporters told him that his wife, Kiran Rao, had reportedly said that she likes to see Sallu in a langot, he joked, "Mere saamne toh kabhi nahi boli (she's never admitted that to me)."

When asked who could reprise their roles for a remake, Aamir quipped, "For that, you have to tell me the script."
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, 'Andaz Apna Apna' revolved around two con men, played by Aamir and Salman, . They were vying to woo and wed a rich heiress, 'Raveena', little knowing that she is really a secretary who's  switched identities with her mistress.

KNOCK OUT: Amir Khan was knocked out by Canelo Alvarez in his last bout yet has vowed to comeback stronger back in the welterweight division

Bolton boxer Amir Khan has laughed off suggestions by Matchroom Sport chairman, Barry Hearn, that he should ‘hang up his gloves’ and is instead targeting a return to the welterweight division.

Following his knockout defeat at the hands of Canelo Alvarez in Vegas earlier this month, Hearn had said that he thought the Brit’s time on the boxing scene was done.

RETIRE: Barry Hearn has called on Khan to retire following his loss in Vegas

Despite a valiant effort against the destructive Alvarez in their Middleweight clash, Khan was knocked to the floor in the fifth round after a heavy blow from the Mexican.

Hearn, whose son Eddie handles the career of IBF champ Kell Brook, told reporters he would worry for the safety of Khan if he continued with his career.

“Listen, the guy has been knocked out at lightweight, he's been knocked out at light-welterweight, now he's been knocked out at middleweight - and he's deciding who he'll want to fight?” he said.

“He should retire. He should retire for his own health. These people won't listen. He says he's got three or four fights left in him. Does that mean three or four times he's going to get knocked out? Because if he fights Kell Brook, he gets knocked out, and he knows that as well. We all know that.

“It's a fight that we would all have loved to have seen, but frankly it's gone past it's sell-by date and Amir Khan has gone by his sell-by date as well. The only person who doesn't know it, is Amir Khan.”

In response, Khan wrote via his Twitter feed: “Barry I'm 29 years old. I still have huge fights at welterweight” accompanied by a laughing emoji.

The fight between Khan and Brook is one which many boxing fans have been waiting for yet one which the prior has repeatedly said he is not interested in previously.

Will the fight happen now that Khan is heading back to the welterweights? Only time will tell.

aamir-khan (258x450)Aamir Khan is cutting his London trip short as he’s promised to celebrate his 51st birthday with his mum in India.

Currently Khan is shooting for his upcoming movie ‘Dangal’, where he plays the role of Mahavir Phogat who encourages his daughters Geeta and Babita to take up wrestling.

He’s already shot for the film in his beefed-up physique as a grown up Mahavir Singh Phogat, but for the younger version of the character Aamir will be loosing around 70 lbs in weight.

Aamir’s trip had played a dual purpose of preparation for the film whilst spending some quality time with his 21-year-old son Junaid (from Aamir’s first wife Reena Dutta) who is studying film-making in England.

A source said: “He was supposed to be there till the end of the month but will have to cut short his trip and return in six days.

“His mother (Zeenat Hussain) is in her 80s now and wants Aamir who turns 51 on 14th March by her side on his birthday.”

So, as promised, Aamir will fly back to India in time to ring in his 51st birthday with mummy.

Aamir Khan says he’d be happy to work with Sunny Leone

Sunny-Leone (800x533)

It’s widely known that many of the A-listers in Bollywood don’t want to share screen with Canadian-born former porn star Sunny Leone (real name Karenjit Kaur Vohra) for her past.

In a country where racy kissing scenes in films can get censored (me thinks it’s bit of a hypocrisy when one considers the historical input of half naked wiggling and jiggling item girls in Bollywood movies), it's remarkable that Sunny Leone, a Canadian-born former porn actress of Indian origin, has been able to build a whole new reputation and fan base

Anyhow, reacting to the outrage following Sunny Leone's interview with a CNN IBN journalist, where she was humiliated with a series of derogatory and offensive questions, actor Aamir Khan has now spoken in support of the actress.

Aamir_khan (800x579)

Aamir wrote on his Facebook page: "I think Sunny conducted herself with a lot of grace and dignity in this interview.... I wish I could have said the same about the interviewer.

“And yes Sunny, I will be happy to work with you. I have absolutely no problems with your "past", as the interviewer puts it. Stay blessed. Cheers. Aamir."

It can be recalled that the judgemental interviewer had implied to Sunny that she may not be worthy of working with an actor like Aamir Khan. Reacting to Aamir's support, Sunny blogged, "I think my heart just dropped seeing this!! Thank you so much for the support. It means the world and beyond to me!"

Superstar Aamir Khan, who does his bit to bring social change in the country via his show "Satyamev Jayate", is disturbed over the sexual assault on a young woman in Delhi.

He stressed upon the need for fast track courts to dispense quick justice in these cases.

"What has happened in Delhi is really unfortunate. Each time I read something like this, my heart bleeds. It is really sad," Aamir, who is known to raise society's issues in "Satyamev Jayate", said here in an interview.

"If we want the rate of such incidents to come down, then one of the important things we need to do is (facilitate) a high rate of conviction. In the cases of crime against women or children, the first thing we have to do is to have fast track courts," he added.

A 25-year-old woman was reportedly raped by an Uber cab driver Dec 5 night after she took the cab around 9.30 p.m. from the capital's Vasant Vihar area.

Aamir said there's a dire need to sensitise the public towards law and order to curb the rape incidents and added: "We have to give top priority to the security of women and children."

Aamir Khan is reported to have purchased Bollywood’s most expensive car, a £900,000 bomb proof Mercedes S600.

Now Aamir joins the league of India’s wealthiest Mukesh Ambani and India’s Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh with his new vehicle purchase, which is bulletproof, explosive-proof as well as bomb proof.

Sources say the actor felt the need to purchase such a protected vehicle after recent security and death threats particularly during the airing time of his reality talk show ‘Satyamev Jayate’, which is now airing it’s second season and tackles India’s most controversial topics and issues that plague the country.

Several anti-social groups reportedly have threatened the actor, after he raised the issues of female foeticide, honour killings and medical malpractices.
