The first ever UK International Hifz (by memory) Quraan Competition will be held in West Yorkshire, from Friday November 24th to Sunday November 26th, 2023.

The competition will bring together over 20 countries which will include France, Denmark, Australia, Nigeria and USA and will be streamed live on YouTube.

Over 100 participants from the age of 8 to 25 years old will compete in reciting the Quraan from memory and will be judged on a variety of factors by a panel of renowned Quraan scholars and experts from around the world.

Quraan is a religious scripture for Muslims, that was revealed to Prophet Muhammed (Peace Be Upon Him) over 1400 years ago and it’s a daily guide for all Muslims around the world.

This competition is a unique opportunity to showcase the talent and dedication of Quraan memorisers from all over the world. It is also a chance to promote Islamic culture and values in the UK. Scholars will also have the time to translate and explain from Arabic to English of what has been prayed.

Qari Saeed Makda, the lead organiser said “This is a very exciting opportunity for young talented Quraan memorisers to showcase their ability to recite fluent and melodious Scripture.

“It is also a great opportunity for Muslims and non-Muslims to understand and connect to the beautiful religion of Islam. We are very proud that the first UK International Quraan competition Is being held in West Yorkshire and we hope it will unite all communities’.
