“I’ll be running my 11th annual Ramadan 10K run in Fleetwood, Lancashire on Sunday 7th April, while fasting almost 16-hours.

Yes, I know sounds crazy with no food or drink! But, this years’ annual Ramadan run is in aid of building new two-room homes for poverty-stricken families in Afghanistan. These homes will improve lives with a clean place to live and help to fight off death from diseases.

I will personally cover the race fee and hotel costs, as I always do. This means that 100% of your donation goes to the stated cause.

From my previous 10 Ramadan 10K running challenges I have raised £345,000, and I’m hoping this Ramadan, with he help of your donations, I’ll be able to raise £55,000; this is in aid of Nazim Ali Foundation in partnership with Keighley-based Green Crescent Aid UK’s (100% Donation Policy) ‘Afghanistan New Homes Project’.

Afghanistan: Poverty-stricken families are living in make-shift tents

Poor families including widows, orphans, disabled and elderly are being moved from makeshift tent homes that offer little protection from the harsh Afghanistan winters and unbearably hot in summers to safe and secure new two-room homes including a kitchen and bathroom.

These homes will improve lives with a clean place to live and help to fight off death from diseases. Afghanistan is poverty stricken with abject living conditions for hundreds of thousands of people. House 1 has already been built – see below.

House 1 of the ‘Afghanistan New Homes Project’ has already been built

Each home costs just £2,200 (Zakat applicable), and donors will receive full feedback, including a personalised plaque and videos.

Currently I’ve just crossed £47,000, and Insh’Allah I am hoping with your support to raise at least £55,000 so that we can build 25 new homes for vulnerable and poor families.”
