The British Pakistan Foundation (BPF) marked a proud milestone on 19th June with its “Forging Forwards” event, held at the historic 116 Pall Mall in central London.

The evening brought together over 150 people from across the British Pakistani community to celebrate 15 years of progress, unity, and leadership.

The event welcomed community members, partners, and special guests to reflect on BPF’s journey and look ahead to its future plans. It also revealed key findings from new research into the lives and hopes of British Pakistanis in the UK.

A highlight of the evening was a powerful keynote speech by Humza Yousaf, the former First Minister of Scotland and the first Muslim to hold the role. Sharing his personal journey, he spoke of the need for unity, strong values, and giving more people a seat at the table.

“I am proud to support the work of the British Pakistan Foundation,” he said. “Their efforts to support the next generation of leaders are vital. The story of British Pakistanis is one of great contributions, and with BPF’s help, that story will grow stronger.”

Other high-profile guests included Pakistan’s High Commissioner HE Dr Mohammed Faisal, BPF Chair Faria Ali, and trustees Asif Rangoonwala, Shahid Latif, Mariam Qaiser, and Ahson Toru. Also in attendance were leaders from business, government, media, and culture – including Lord Tariq Ahmad, broadcaster Yasser Ranjha (Capital FM), DJ Nabihah Iqbal, chef Aida Khan, BBC presenter Nayha Ahmed, and comedian Salman Malik.

The evening featured the launch of new research by BPF, based on views shared by members of the British Pakistani community across the UK. The findings will guide the group’s future work, with a focus on creating more chances for success, stronger representation, and better support for young people.

“This evening was not just about looking back – it was about looking ahead,” said trustee Asif Rangoonwala.

“Our research shows that the community is ready to move forward together.”

Chair of the Foundation, Faria Ali, added: “Our 15-year anniversary is a proud moment. We are committed to building more pathways so British Pakistanis can grow, thrive, and shape the future of this country.”
