Jaguar F-Type SVR (800x500)

Possibly the most powerful Jaguar production car ever

Well, the lid has been lifted The new Jaguar F-Type SVR will make its global debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and will go on sale in March.

With indications that it will feature the same 567bhp 5.0-litre V8 engine as the limited-edition Project 7, the SVR has powerful V8 with 700Nm of torque, an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.

The F-Type SVR will go from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds and on to an incredible 200mph top speed – according to the leaked sales materials. That means it will have 25bhp more than the F-Type R, the current range-topper, and manage the 0-62mph sprint 0.4 seconds faster. It also comprehensively beats the R’s top speed of 186mph.

If the figures are true, it will mean the F-Type SVR matches the limited-run Project 7 as the most powerful Jaguar production car ever.

The F-Type SVR will be available as a coupe and convertible, and gets a few aerodynamic upgrades over the standard car. The brochure mentions new air inlets at the front, along with an upgraded splitter and more vents to allow bigger quantities of air into the new cooling system. The car also looks set to get a revised diffuser at the rear.

There’s also a huge rear spoiler that covers the whole width of the car, and it will be able to extend to provide more downforce at high speed. It can apparently reduce lift by up to 80 per cent, but to reach that impressive 200mph top speed it needs to be lowered to make the car more slippery. The convertible version won’t be able to reach that speed, however, topping out at 194mph.
