With nothing but backpacks, blister plasters and boundless determination, two women from Leeds have set out on a 107-mile walk to Birmingham – not for glory, but to bring hope to grieving parents in the UK and displaced families in war-torn Gaza. Their mission? To turn every step into a lifeline.
The inspiring pair, Hana Agha and Bhranti Naik – both volunteers with the charity Give a Gift, are walking non-stop over two days to raise vital funds for two powerful causes: Moonlight Trust, which supports families affected by conflict in Gaza, and Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, which provides care and counselling for parents who have lost children.
Two determined women from Leeds have set out on a gruelling 107-mile walk to Birmingham – all in the name of charity. And every painful step is packed with purpose.
Armed with little more than rucksacks and resilience, the pair are taking on the mammoth challenge to raise vital funds for two life-changing causes – Moonlight Trust, which supports displaced families in Gaza, and the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, which provides bereavement support for parents who have lost children.
The women, both volunteers with the Leeds-based community organisation Give a Gift, began their trek this week and will spend over 48-hours on foot, crossing cities, towns and counties – all to shine a light on the desperate needs of families facing tragedy both at home and abroad.
“We wanted to do something physically and emotionally meaningful,” said Bhranti.
“It’s not just a walk – every step we take is for a child, a parent, a family who needs hope.”
The Moonlight Trust, one of the two charities they’re championing, has been working around the clock to deliver emergency aid to families caught in the crossfire in Gaza – providing food, shelter and medical support to those who’ve lost everything.
Meanwhile, Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity offers lifeline support to families who are grieving the unimaginable – the loss of a child. Donations will go towards its vital bereavement and mental health services.
The women’s emotional and physical journey began in Leeds on Wednesday 26th June, with a route carefully mapped to pass through multiple communities – where they hope to rally local support, raise awareness, and inspire action.
They are walking with no support vehicles, carrying only the essentials – and an unwavering belief that compassion can cross any distance.
The public are being urged to get behind the duo’s ‘Walk of Life’ campaign by donating via Give a Gift. All proceeds will be split evenly between the two causes.
