Soho Theatre Walthamstow is bringing an exciting mix of comedy, live performance and South Asian talent to East London this autumn, with four standout shows taking audiences from August through to December.
Opening the line-up is Guz Khan & Friends, running from 27th–29th August. Hosted and curated by Guz Khan, the three-night comedy run features a different line-up of stand-up talent each evening, including Babatunde Aleshe, Desiree Burch, Jamali Maddix, Doc Brown, Michelle De Swarte and Michael Odewale. Next, on 13th September, The Good Immigrant: LIVE 10th Anniversary comes to Soho Theatre Walthamstow. Marking a decade since Nikesh Shukla’s landmark collection was first published, the special live event brings original contributors back together to reflect on what has changed in Britain over the past ten years — and what still needs to change. In November, spoken-word artist Nayab Midha brings Rajkumari to the venue on 21st November. Performed in Hindi, the show explores identity, love, expectations and the stories we grow up believing, blending poetry and storytelling to question traditional ideas of what it means to find your own ‘happily ever after’. Closing the line-up on 6th December is internationally acclaimed poet, comedian and performer ALOK, with Eat Pray Leave. Described as their most intimate show yet, the comedy explores love, heartbreak, desire and self-discovery with ALOK’s trademark sharp wit. Having performed across more than 40 countries, ALOK brings a globally acclaimed voice to Soho Theatre Walthamstow for an evening that promises both laughs and plenty to think about. Together, the four shows showcase the breadth of Soho Theatre Walthamstow’s programme — from big-name comedy and landmark cultural conversations to Hindi spoken word and internationally acclaimed performance.
