Bumrah’s impressive career so far has seen him take 70 wickets in 60 T20 internationals

It’s been confirmed that India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not be playing in the 2022 Men’s T20 World Cup due to an injury.

The 28-year-old, one of the best bowlers in the world, recently pulled out of India’s T20 series against South Africa with a back issue.

India say the decision to rule out Bamrah for the T20 was taken after “detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists”.

India are already without all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who has a right knee injury, so this is a big blow for the team.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has said a replacement for Bumrah will soon announced. Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar the other pace bowlers on their reserve list.

Though specifics of Bumrah’s injury have not been given by the BCCI, but the International Cricket Council has called it a “back stress fracture”.

India’s first match of the World Cup is against rivals Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 23rd October.
