Film fans in Bradford got a once in a lifetime chance to meet Bollywood icon, Ranveer Singh, last weekend ahead of the release of his latest blockbuster hit - Befikre.

The Bajirao Mastani star was in the city to promote the film, alongside leading lady Vaani Kapoor, and was warmly received by a packed audience in City Park on Sunday 20th November.

After entertaining the crowds outdoors, Ranveer and Vaani headed to the award-winning Cafe de Akbar, on Leeds Road, for a unique meet-and-greet with fans and a taste of their delicious menu.

Smiling for selfies and signing autographs, the pair were warmly welcomed to the eatery and spoke with Akbar’s owner, Shabir Hussain.

On hosting the celebrity duo, Shabir said: “It was great to give people a chance to meet Ranveer in a one-to-one environment, where they could see their favourite star up close.

“It was an opportunity most people never get the chance to have.

“Fans could see him in the crowd in City Park but to actually meet him in person, and get that actual interaction with him, means so much more.”

With so many places to eat in the city, Shabir adds that it was a privilege to host both Bollywood stars.

“I’m so happy they ended up in Akbars because the organisers were very particular about where to take them,” he added.

“They chose Cafe de Akbar and that was an honour for us, we were delighted to host him.”
