On 30th November 2014 local Bradford boxing talent Tasif Khan will be returning to professional boxing after almost a two year layoff and hopes to continue making an impact on the eight stone bantamweight boxing divisions.

Khan who is of an Asian Pakistani heritage had a very impressive Amateur boxing record prior to turning professional, being the Yorkshire and Humber champion for six years, National England finalist in 2005 and North of England Champion in 2004.

Khan as a professional has fought on the undercard of the Amir Khan v Paul Mckloskey boxing bout in Manchester MEN arena and only has one controversial defeat on his boxing record out of 12 fights.

Khan started training as a boxer at the age of 10 years old and turned professional in the last 5 years. Academically he has achieved a BA Hons in Sports Development and Physical Education and has previously been a teacher at a Bradford Primary School.

Even though as a boxer it is very difficult to make a career out of professional boxing, Khan believes that he can follow in the footsteps of another Asian Pakistani boxer Amir Khan and win a British boxing title very soon prior to world title in the future.

The Bradford born Khan has recently said “If I didn’t think I had some ability I wouldn’t be doing this. I’m not silly; I’ve got a degree and had a stable teaching job. I have that belief that I want to become a champion – I want to bring a title back to Bradford.”

Khan is one of many recent Asian boxers who have started to make a huge impact on boxing like Atif Shafiq, Muheeb Faz, Aji Sharif and Faraz Akram and I personally feel that the British public should get behind their local boxers and offer their support at both the Amateur and Professional boxing level.

Khan as a person is a very hard working and dedicated individual and with that is a very humble person and always willing to help local causes in Bradford. I personally recall on many occasions when Khan has assisted me with various boxing projects at very short notice and sometimes when he was busy training for fights.

We wish Khan and the new crop of Asian boxing talents every success with their careers.
