BMW has just announced that it’s 2 Series Active Tourer, its first ever front-wheel drive model, will arrive in showrooms this September, priced from £22,150.
The standard specification for this latest addition to the BMW range has now been confirmed and includes: Automatic tailgate, two-zone automatic air conditioning, rear Park Distance Control, BMW Emergency Call, 40:20:40 split folding rear seat with electronic folding functionality and 60:40 sliding rear bench.
Additionally it comes with Bluetooth with USB interface and audio streaming functionality, BMW Professional radio with single CD player and 6.5-inch monitor, DAB digital radio, Performance Control, Comfort Go keyless engine start, Drive Performance Control with ECO PRO, Comfort and Sport modes, rain sensor with automatic headlight activation, Sport multi-function leather steering wheel and additional 12V power socket.
From launch only two engine variants will be offered, with prices rising to £24,205 for the 218d SE model.
Using the same running gear as the new MINI, the engines come with the entry-level 218i (£22,150) with a 134bhp 1.5-litre three-cylinder motor.
The more powerful 148bhp 2.0-litre diesel is fitted to the 218d (£24,205), with economy claimed at 68.9mpg.
Soon after the launch in September, BMW is set to expand the 2 Series Active Tourer line-up with the introduction of 220i, 220d and 216d models along with all-wheel drive variants.
From November, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will be available in M Sport specification, priced at £3,000 premium over the SE.
