
The Bradford Hindu Council hosted its annual Diwali Awards Ceremony at the Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford.
The event brought together respected community leaders and guests from across the region to celebrate Diwali, the festival of light, unity and goodwill.
Dr Nirmal Singh Sekhon MBE attended the ceremony as a special guest, accompanied by his wife, Mrs Harmesh Kaur Sekhon. During the evening, Dr Sekhon was honoured and presented with an award by Mr Ravinder Dharni, Chairperson of the Bradford Hindu Council.
The award recognised Dr Sekhon’s outstanding contribution to community service, leadership and social harmony in Bradford and the surrounding areas.
In his address, Dr Sekhon expressed his gratitude to the Hindu Council and said that the celebration reflected the shared values of unity, diversity, peace and cooperation that make Bradford such a special place.
Chairperson Ravinder Dharni praised Dr Sekhon for his lifelong commitment to community development and his efforts to bring people of different faiths and cultures closer together.
The evening concluded with traditional Diwali celebrations, cultural performances and messages of hope and service, reminding everyone that the true light of Diwali shines through kindness, compassion and togetherness.
