Bugatti to take its 450th and final Veyron to Geneva Motor Show

At last Bugatti has managed to shift the last few remaining €1million Veyrons,
and will celebrate this achievement by bringing the 450th and final model to the Geneva Motor Show next month.

Speaking with Auto Motor und Sport, Bugatti president Wolfgang Durheimer revealed the final car will be built this year, but that we shouldn’t expect to see the Veyron’s successor anytime soon. To “make the best even better” does not happen overnight, especially as the new model “must do everything better than its predecessor."

Thankfully, Bugatti buyers are a patient bunch. "Many of our customers are art collectors, and they know that it takes time to create a work of art."

Tipped to be called the Bugatti Chiron, the new model will be lighter, more responsive, and better-handling than the Veyron. It’ll be built on an existing carbon fiber architecture, but 92 percent of the parts will be all-new or heavily modified.

The Veyron’s 8.0-liter, quad-turbocharged W16 will carry over with output boosted from 1,200 to 1,500 horsepower, which will be done via direct fuel injection and electric turbochargers.

These will provide fast-acting torque, likely to peak around 1,000 lb-ft, sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Bugatti expects a top speed of around 288 mph with this setup.

While we await that car with eager anticipation we look forward to bidding farewell to one of the cars of our generation in Geneva.
