Christmas day television can get tiresome after a while – there’s only so many times you can watch ‘The Snowman’ or witness Kevin McCallister being left ‘Home Alone’.

So, this year, rather than sitting in front of the box all day, go grab your scarf and gloves and head over to the cinema, where the big screen beckons with the promise of popcorn treats and surround sound.

The biggest blockbusters of the year will still be shown in picture houses across the land, for an action-packed festive celebration, thanks to Leeds-Bradford Odeon Cinema.

With special Christmas Day opening times announced this week, film fans will be happy to know they can still sit back with a cold coke and hot dog and sink into their favourite film.

Fancy some Bollywood on the silver screen?

Amongst the films on show this Christmas Day is Dangal, which stars Aamir Khan.

Hitting cinemas from 23rd December, it tells the story of Mahavir Singh Phogat (played by Khan).

Phogat had dreams of becoming a professional wrestler himself but was unable to make his dream a reality. Upon realising this he takes it upon himself to train his daughters in the sport, depicted in a powerful performance on screen.

In addition to Dangal – Odeon will also be showing the latest Christmas blockbusters including Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Moana and Passengers.

New JK Rowling title Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them will also continue to play in select cinemas.

Andy Edge, Commercial Director of ODEON UK and Ireland commented: “Christmas Day is made for watching films so opening up the doors to 20 of our cinemas will be the perfect gift to many film fans.

“The festive film slate is mouth-watering to say the least, from new Bollywood hits to Hollywood blockbusters, we’re sure many film fans will have a wonderful time at Odeon on Christmas Day and throughout the Christmas period”.
