A police investigation is underway at the scene of a popular Bradford takeaway after a fire ripped through the establishment earlier this week.

Mahmoods, on Great Horton Road, was attended by fire crews from across Bradford in the early hours of Wednesday 30th March.

Nobody was hurt in the fire, yet the roof of the restaurant collapsed following the blaze.

Extensive damage was caused to the interior, as firefighters from Bradford, Odsal, and Fairweather Green attended the scene at around 3.15am.

The cause of the fire was initially researched by fire crews yet police were called in to investigate after beliefs that the fire could have been started deliberately.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police can confirm they are investigating a fire at a commercial premises and flat in Great Horton Road, Bradford, which is believed to have started at about 3am.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Bradford District CID on 101, quoting log 127 of March 30, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.”
