In 2006, a football academy was set up in the heart of Bradford to bring sport to children and now, just eight years later, this same club is flourishing with two junior sides and one senior outfit storming the city’s leagues.

The Manningham Football Academy was initially developed through the United Youth Forum with the aim of increasing participation numbers in football, whilst also getting healthy, making friends and gaining confidence.
Four years later and the first competitive side was launched, the Manningham All Stars Under 12’s – now Under 16’s, before a second Under 12 unit established in 2012 and a senior side followed in 2013.

Success was almost instantaneous for the open age side who, this past season, have picked up the league title, whilst also making it to two cup semi-finals.

Competing against teams from all across West Yorkshire, the senior’s had a campaign to remember and celebrated alongside their junior colleagues at a presentation ceremony in the city last weekend.

Senior team manager, and club chairman, Khalil Hussain, said it had been a year to remember and thanked the players, coaches and sponsors for their support over the past 12 months.

He said: “This year has seen the Manningham All Stars gain valuable experience, it has not been an easy ride but everybody has worked extra hard to make our dreams a reality.

“We will build on this season’s success and hope to bring more silverware home. All this would not be possible without our sponsors TyreTrax, Sheikh Ayub Solicitors and Auto Tech who have all supported the club passionately and with 100 per cent commitment.”

The team’s rapid development is also partially down to the charity, StreetGames, which changes lives and communities through sport.

The charity specialises in bringing sport to disadvantaged communities across the UK by supporting a network of projects such as the Manningham Football Academy.

With the 2014/15 season just around the corner, Manningham All Stars is recruiting players for new Under 8’s and 11’s sides, as well as for the already established under 15’s, under 17’s and senior setup.
