Sanjay Dutt triggers protests
Sanjay Dutt, who is serving a 42 month sentence in Pune’s Yerwada Jail, was granted a 30 day furlough in October, due to health-related issues.
Now, he has been granted a parole again. This time, it is a 30 day parole that he acquired stating that his supposedly ill wife Maanyata Dutt needs his care and attention.
This has sparked protests by the Republican Party of India; whose members staged a rally in front of the jail.
The 'Munnabhai' actor was imprisoned in May this year, to serve the 42 month sentence because of his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai Serial Blasts and for the illegal possession of arms.
