“I’m like their first brown model. For a global fashion brand, for them to move their campaign into a global space, for me it’s an honor,” said Priyanka.
Priyanka’s Guess campaign came about all thanks to her hairstylist who introduced her to Paul Marciano who said she reminded him of Angelina Jolie–and he instantly knew she was his next Guess girl, telling her, “You’re it. It has to be you.”
When working with musician/photographer Bryan Adams–apparently he’s huge in India–the vibe of the photoshoot was “young Sophia Loren” and Priyanka says that she wanted to play characters.
“I wanted every picture to speak of a story,” she said.
The images definitely evoke a sense of retro glamour mixed with the classic Guess sex appeal.
The actress, who has been acting in Bollywood films for some ten years now, also has an album coming out via Interscope in spring 2014 and it seems like she’s ready to take on America.
“It’s scary, but I grew up partly here too. So I’m an amalgamation of both the East and West.
“I’m not too American and I’m not too Indian, but I’m a global citizen, and that’s what most people are today. And I don’t want to have to change who I am to try and fit in or cater to a certain audience.”
Beautiful with a great head on her shoulders? Role model alert! She was even studying to be an engineer and wanted to work at NASA before all of this show biz stuff.
