MARATHON: Joginder Singh surrounded by his medals while wearing his newest medal from the New York Marathon

Bradford's Tasif Khan was in no mood to compromise as he swept aside the experienced Pavel Senkovs on points at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium on November 26.
Khan’s superior strength was shown early on in the fight as he put Senkovs on the canvas in the second round. The Bradford fighter’s speed and lightening reflexes were too much for Senkovs on the night.
After the fight Khan was happy with the performance and thanked his loyal following who trekked across the Pennines to support him.
He said: “It was great to hear the fans cheer me on, and I’d like to thank them from the bottom of my heart and dedicate the victory to them.”
The future looks bright for the 27-year-old Bantam weight, fighting for the second consecutive time on the Matthew Hatton undercard.
Many of his fans were delighted to see Khan’s latest victory.
Shazad Bashir, chairman of Fairbank United Football club, said “Having played football for the club for so many years I am extremely happy for him. He is a local lad who has done extremely well and all of us hope he can crack into the big time next year. He has worked so hard and is a role model to all the youngsters locally”
Loyal follower and sponsor, Abdul Karim of Urban Concept & RS customs said: “I can see a title fight coming in the next 12 months. Tas has been working extremely hard for the opportunity for the last few years. He is looking to bring a title belt back to Bradford and become the people’s champion.”
Bradford’s own former world light welter weight champion Junior Witter was also pleased by Khan’s victory.
Witter said: “Tas once again impressed me today. Keep an eye out for this lad because he will be making big waves in the Bantam weight division over the next year. I can see him as British champion in the near future.”
