Brookhouse Training Centre (BTC) in Cleckheaton has one of the best instructor teams and engineer courses in the country. The reason why BTC is so highly regarded is due to the impression its candidates have made while on work placements and when they have started work. Established in 1994, BTC has been training adults from the local community to the highest level possible. BTC’s directors Mark Collin, James McConnell and David Dumaresq-Lucas, believe guaranteed work placements - to give the candidate on the job experience - are an essential ingredient to successful training.
Mark Collin said: “We are delivering a new method of learning, providing essential on-the-job experience; you cannot just undertake a course and not work in the industry, as gas can be dangerous! Our candidates know exactly what they are doing, and as BTC is an extremely well-known name in the industry, so providing this experience is not a problem.”
The work placements have proved to be a huge success for both BTC and the engineers who have been trained there. Many companies have commented on the level of expertise the candidates have demonstrated, and its success is now spreading via word of mouth.
BTC has taught many people over the years and, because of the friendly atmosphere, the tutors know everyone who walks through the door.
Mark added: “To see the faces of our candidates when they pass their exams is a great feeling, and can sometimes be very humbling when you know their personal circumstances.”
