A Bradford Professor was recognised for his exceptional achievements at the University of Bradford, in their first ever Excellence in Knowledge Transfer Awards.
Professor Hassan Ugail, from the Maldives, received the award after developing two cutting-edge methods for defining and manipulating complex digital data.
He walked away with the most prestigious of awards, the 'Vice-Chancellor's Excellence in Knowledge Transfer Award.'
Two years after moving to he UK in 1992, Professor Ugail received a degree with First Class Honours in Mathematics and was rewarded with a PhD by the Department of Applied Mathematics from the University of Leeds in 2000 for his research in geometric design.
Professor Ugail, who last year was promoted to Chair of Visual Computing at the University, developed his research idea into a business product for the UK, with the potential to go into Europe and the US. The Bradford lecturer has numerous other patents and inventions to run along side this one.
Professor Ugail said: "It's a very prestigious award, I am very pleased and honoured to have won it.
"The night was very good and the food was nice. The ceremony lasted around three hours and I was presented with my award at the very end, so I was very nervous through out, but it was still an enjoyable occasion."
