The pizza cheese industry is booming in East Yorkshire thanks to a local company bringing home the highest quality products from across the globe.
Hull-based CK Food Processing Ltd. regard themselves to be the pizza cheese experts. Established in 2005, the company has researched, tasted and tested high and low to bring customers the very best pizza cheese available.
CK Foods manufacture and process their cheese to a very high standard of quality control.
This family business prides itself on its background, having had previous experience in the cash and carry industry, which has given them an insight into customers needs.
The result of CK Foods worldwide search and consumer knowledge has brought them tasty pizza cheese in the form of two products, Chicago King and Suprimo, both of which come in mozzarella, mozzarella/cheddar and mozzarella/analogue.
The main difference between the two is that Suprimo is a traditional Italian pizza cheese and is primarily used by restaurant chefs.
Managing Director Abu Bakar Bhamji said: “We are passionate about cheese and our ultimate aim is to provide our customers with a high quality product excelling in exceptional flavour characteristics. CK Foods thrives on its reputation for supplying its widely acclaimed cheese products to pizza outlets and restaurants throughout the UK.”
The idea of going into the pizza cheese industry only came to light after the Bhamji family saw how difficult it was to find a consistently high quality pizza cheese.
Since then the company has grown substantially and now sees around 100 tonnes of cheese per week being delivered to distributors throughout the UK and Ireland.
This sounds like a major operation, especially with CK Foods high standards of quality. But the company has gained a prestigious reputation for its pizza cheese and believe hourly tests in the manufacturing process provides the assurance of an optimum quality end product arriving at the customer's door.
CK Foods also encourages potential customers to come and try the cheese for themselves by holding regular tasting sessions.
Abu added: “Our belief was the pizza market here in the UK and Ireland deserved a better quality cheese than they were getting. Initially it was very difficult to source good quality pizza cheese however we are now proud to be a major supplier to businesses nationwide.
“Many people ask us why we are based in Hull but we consider it to be the perfect place for our company. The main advantage is location - being close to the ports makes it easier for us to import and export. There are also advantages with regards to the service provision of specialist technical support and engineering companies which are readily on-hand due to the number of major food companies based in Hull, Grimsby and the surrounding area.”
