An end to Muslim immigration?
BNP Manifesto announced and condemned
The BNP launched their Manifesto on Friday the 23rd April, with stopping immigration from Muslim nations being one of their main points.

BNP propose to put an end to immigration from Muslim nations and want to encourage UK residents to return to 'their lands of ethnic origin'.

Halting immigration is a key point in the BNP manifesto but instead of all immigration, they highlighted Muslim countries in particular.

They also want to deport all illegal immigrants, with the exception of legally settled and law-abiding immigrants to being allowed to remain in the country.

However, any citizenship grants awarded after 1997 would require a review.

The BNP proposes to deport any foreigners convicted of crimes in Britain, regardless of their immigration status. Radical Islamist preachers would also be deported.

Banning both the burka and the building of mosques are also part of the BNP's plans.

Once again the BNP have outraged many organisations and members of the public.

The British Muslim Forum has condemned the BNP manifesto, which they say is making Muslims the scapegoat for everything.

"The Muslim community is part of what it means to be British, however, the BNP is playing an evil game to whip up xenophobia and racism for electoral purposes", said Dr Waqar Azmi OBE of the British Muslim Forum.

"The BNP seeks more than an electorate; it wants to turn voters into supporters of racism, racial division and the party's core beliefs of racial purity."

"All of us have responsibility to stand up to racism and play our part, however big or small, to ensure that the racist extremists in our society whether Al-Qaeda inspired or Far Right inspired do not destroy the values of equality, justice and human dignity for all in our society."

Unite Against Fascism, an anti-fascist organisation campaigning to keep the far right out, were among several protestors outside the BBC's Headquarters over the BNP's party election broadcast.

In a statement, Unite Against Fascism said "The BNP is stirring up racist lies on immigration in order to get elected. It is trying to exploit people's fears about unemployment and the economic situation, by blaming immigrants for these problems. This is totally wrong and misleading."

"A study by the Home Office shows that migrant workers contribute more than they take out from the economy, a net 6 billion pounds in 2006. The majority of people in Britain abhor the BNP. Every one must use their vote to stop the BNP."
