JODI NO.1: Govinda and David Dhawan were inseperable and delivered hit after hit during the 90’s

Has Bollywood’s Jodi. No 1 gone kaput? We’re referring to Govinda’s friendship with film director David Dhawan, who at the peak of their dosti delivered one musical comedy hit after another during the 1990s. ‘Coolie No. 1’, ‘Hero No. 1’ and ‘Raja Babu’ are just a pick of some of the favourites that the buddies had worked together on.

The entertainers last joined hands in 2007 for ‘Partner’, which changed the game for Govinda.

Latest grapevine is that all is not well on the Govinda and David. Whispers have it that they have parted ways in their respective careers and that’s a major reason why they haven’t united to make a film for years.

Whatever the actual rift is, we don’t know, but we have learnt that David has taken a backseat because of his health issues and his two sons – Varun and Rohit Dhawan – are doing well in their respective careers.

On the other hand, Govinda is focussed on making his own career work and already has two big banner films releasing this month, YRF’s ‘Kill Dil’ and Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Happy Ending’.

Govinda has said: “Maybe, I think, David is in his comfort zone. He’s worked very hard for a long time. Perhaps, he’ll be taking it a little easy and wouldn’t want to concentrate on anything else other than his kids.

“There’s nothing personal against him. I heard David is not keeping well. Three of my financers met him to discuss some project but David refused. He didn’t treat them properly. But let it be. Sometimes, keeping away is good and better than dushmani (enmity) and jhhagda (war).”

Govinda’s own children seem to be doing well, with both his daughter Narmmadaa and son Yashvardhan by following in their father’s footsteps into the world of bollywood.
